 MEMPHIS tells the story of a radio DJ who wants to change the world, and a club singer who is ready for her big break. Based on actual events, the soul of a new era is dawning as the first incredible sounds of rock ‘n’ roll, blues, and gospel are emerging into the mainstream.
Falling in love with a beautiful club singer, one young man’s vision to bring her voice and her music out of the clubs and onto the airwaves of America, will fly in the face of cultural divides, and spark a music revolution that will shake the world. The Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning Best Musical, MEMPHIS, was called by the Associated Press, “The very essence of what a Broadway Musical should be!”
MEMPHIS will open on Friday, November 14th, 2014, and run through Sunday, November 23rd.
A post-show discussion with cast, staff, and audience will follow the Saturday, November 15th, 2:00pm performance. A signed performance for the deaf and hard-of-hearing will be on Friday, November 21st, at 8:00PM.
