Third by Wendy Wasserstein

Third by Wendy WassersteinLaurie Jameson, an accomplished feminist academic who once transformed the culture of the English Department finds her worldview challenged at home and on campus when she encounters a student named Woodson Bull, III.

South Pasadena Theatre Workshop presents Third by Wendy Wasserstein. Produced by Stephen Godwin and Sally Smythe who six years ago created the theatre space inside the old nursery on Mound and El Centro. Over the past five years the workshop has hosted adult workshops and acting classes as well as conservatory performance opportunities for high school students including Into the Woods and The Diviners. Sally and her director Sydney Walsh who have teamed up to create work in the past had been searching for a play that speaks to the complexity of driven creative complicated people whose lives are facing a crossroads. They were delighted to come upon Third, Wendy Wasserstein\'s last play, Third which is filled with pathos and humor. It concerns Laurie Jameson a celebrated feminist academic who transformed the culture of the English Department in a small new England college but thirty years later is facing a different set of obstacles and her resources are limited. There is trouble at home with her daughter and aging father and trouble on campus with a friend and with an ambitious student named Woodson Bull, III.
