 Guitar/mandolin/arpeggione collective, EnsembleFRET, join resident ensemble Dúo del Sol for Classical Revolution: L.A.'s FREE Happy Hour at the Silverlake Lounge on April 19th.
EnsembleFRET is performance collective founded in 2012 by Buzz Gravelle, Walter Marsh and Peter Yates. Their concerts feature music, both old and new, for guitar, mandolin and arpeggione (bowed guitar), in duos and trios, or in expandable combination with guest vocalists and instrumentalists. Results range from intimate art-song to massed guitars. Dedicated to expanding the repertoire for plucked stringed instruments and beyond, every concert features music unheard-of, written or premiered within the past year. Not your usual classical guitar repertoire and never your usual guitar concert.

Dúo del Sol will perform music from their album, Hello Kaleidoscope. The album was recently nominated for "Best Instrumental Album" by the Independent Music Awards. The music has been described as "beautiful, cinematic...folk, latin, jazz and classical" fusion (Daily Album). On stage, this firebrand duo takes no prisoners. They harness the raw energy of a rock band by wildly stretching their instruments beyond any traditional limits, mixing and engineering their unique sounds like two mad scientists. The duo were described as “avant-sonic acrobats” by LA Weekly and “exceptional genius” by I Am Entertainment Magazine.

CLASSICAL REVOLUTION: L.A.
Catch Classical Revolution: L.A. the first and third Saturday of each month at Silverlake Lounge! The group makes "chamber music cozy comfy in bars, clubs, coffee shops" and more "unexpected hangouts." (L.A. Weekly) Mark Swed of the L.A. Times called it an "addictive new series," that can make chamber music "startlingly subversive." Classical Revolution was founded in 2006 at the Revolution Cafe in San Francisco. The Classical Revolution model has spread around the world, with over 30 active chapters in cities around the US, Canada and Europe.
