The Pomona College Band presents the world premiere of Mark Winges’ Adventure in the Air with soprano saxophone soloist Kenneth Foerch, along with music by Robert Russell Bennett, Stephen Bulla, Percy Grainger, Gustav Holst, Karl Kohn, and John Philip Sousa.

Kenneth Foerch is a studio musician, performer, and educator in the Los Angeles area. He performs as an on-call saxophonist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and has performed under the direction of Gustavo Dudamel, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Zubin Mehta, John Williams and many others. He has appeared with the L.A. Opera, L.A. Chamber Orchestra, L.A. Master Chorale, Pacific Symphony, Long Beach Symphony Orchestra, Pasadena Symphony, and Long Beach Municipal Band. His appearances have been with some of today’s leading artists, including Herbie Hancock, Elvis Costello and John Legend. He has performed as a chamber musician for the “Green Umbrella” series of the LA Philharmonic and worked with international composers such as Thomas Alves.

One of the oldest college bands in the country, the Pomona College Band was founded in 1909. Led by emeritus professor Graydon Beeks, the band’s membership is drawn from students, faculty, and staff of The Claremont Colleges and members of the local community. Its goal is to prepare significant music in a collaborative atmosphere for performance at the highest level. They present two sets of concerts each academic year.
