Marian Music from the Sixteenth Century for Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal

Marian Music from the Sixteenth Century for Our Lady of the Miraculous MedalCommercium Musicum will be participating in the celebration of a Tridentine High Mass for the Feast Day of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, featuring Missa ad imitationem moduli by French Renaissance composer Nicolas de Marle. This is an opportunity to hear glorious music in the setting for which it was intended, performed by voices and period instruments.

Commercium Musicum continues its presentation of Renaissance liturgical music for voices and period instruments in the setting for which it was intended with Missa ad imitationem moduli by French Renaissance composer Nicolas de Marle (fl. 1545–1565). Published in 1557, the work is based on the popular chanson by Pierre Cadéac (fl. 1538–1558), “Je suis déshéritée.”

This musical gem by a little-known master will be part of a Tridentine High Mass for the Feast Day of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal to be celebrated at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Wilmington.

In addition de Marle’s Missa ad imitationem moduli, Commercium Musicum’s singers will perform:

Regina caeli laetare – Francisco Guerrero
Ave Verum Corpus – William Byrd
