The Los Angeles Youth Orchestra, conducted by Founder and Artistic Director Russell Steinberg, performs at Walt Disney Concert Hall on Wednesday, June 19 at 7:30pm as part of the West Coast Youth Orchestra Festival.

Works to be performed include two movements from Brahms Symphony No. 4, the first movement from Haydn’s late Symphony No. 99, Steinberg’s Cosmic Dust 2, two dances from Albeniz’s Suite Espanola, and Gounod's Funeral March for a Marionette.
The Los Angeles Youth Orchestra (LAYO) is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, whose mission is to contribute to our communities and the future of culture by developing a passion for music in young musicians that lasts a lifetime through the study and performance of classical and contemporary music.
LAYO serves over 120 student musicians each year, ages 8-18, who hail from 60 different public and private schools. LAYO rehearses at the Encino Community Center on Sunday afternoons and regularly performs at UCLA Schoenberg Hall and Ambassador Auditorium. LAYO has also appeared at the Hollywood Bowl and Carnegie Hall. The orchestra toured internationally to Vienna and Prague in 2015 and to Italy in 2017. Many of the orchestra’s alumni have gone on to prestigious universities including Juilliard School, Cornell, Berklee College of Music, UCLA, USC, Harvard and New England Conservatory.
