The Los Angeles Youth Orchestra, conducted by Founder and Artistic Director Russell Steinberg, presents 'Down a Country Lane' the Fall 2019 concerts on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at 7:30pm at Barnum Hall and Monday, November 25, 2019 at 7:30pm at Ambassador Auditorium in Pasadena.
The Symphony Orchestra performs Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 'Pastoral' and the Ruth Borun Concert Orchestra performs the first movement of Haydn’s Symphony No. 5, Bartok's Pieces for Children, Copland's Down a Country Lane, Verdi's Grand March from Aida as well as Saint-Saëns' Marche Militaire conducted by David Clymer, LAYO alumni and conducting intern.
The Los Angeles Youth Orchestra (LAYO) is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, whose mission is to contribute to our communities and the future of culture by developing a passion for music in young musicians that lasts a lifetime through the study and performance of classical and contemporary music. LAYO serves over 120 student musicians each year, ages 8-18, who hail from 60 different public and private schools. LAYO rehearses at the Encino Community Center on Sunday afternoons and has performed at Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Hollywood Bowl and Carnegie Hall. The orchestra toured internationally to Vienna and Prague in 2015 and Italy in 2017. Many of the orchestra’s alumni have gone on to prestigious universities including Juilliard School, Cornell, Berklee College of Music, UCLA, USC, Harvard and New England Conservatory.
