Los Angeles Recorder Orchestra (LARO) concert

Los Angeles Recorder Orchestra (LARO) concertThe Los Angeles Recorder Orchestra (LARO), a 30-member ensemble conducted by Thomas Axworthy, presents its January concert “The Ghosts of Christmas Past”. The group will be playing many sizes of recorder, from the 9-inch Sopranino to the 8-foot-plus SubContraBass.

If you aren’t ready for the Holidays to be over this concert will help keep the spirit alive.

The merriment starts with Tom Lehrer’s irreverent spoof, Hanukkah in Santa Monica, followed by Tabourot’s lively Official Bransle, Rosenheck’s nostalgic Christmas in New York, a Traditional Chanukah Memories, Corelli’s charming Christmas Concerto.  A joyous Hava Nagila follows.  The concert ends with the reverent retelling of The Christmas Story in the lovely music of Heinrich Schütz.

LARO is joined again for this concert by guest tenor Steve Padilla.
