The Los Angeles Recorder Orchestra (LARO), conducted by Thomas Axworthy, presents its February concert “Suspicion”. The group will be playing many sizes of recorder, from the tiny Sopranino to the 8-foot-plus SubContraBass.
Please join us for our first concert of 2023 in an eclectic mix of pieces. Leading off is the title piece, Suspicion, by contemporary composer Glen Shannon. Next is Vaughn Williams’ beloved work for string orchestra, Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis, arranged here for recorder orchestra. Following is the hyponotic met z’m twaalven written for twelve recorders in 2001 by Frans Geysen. Rounding out the program, also arranged for recorders, is the delicate Petite Symphonie by Gounod.
