HONKY-TONKIN’ with HANK & PATSY - is a musical tribute recreation show performed by Cowboy Jack Johnson as “Hank Williams” and Bethany Owen as “Patsy Cline” that walks you through the music of the early years of Hank and Patsy when they recorded, wrote and sang some of the most memorable songs in country music history during the late 40s, 50’s & 60’s.
Step back to the days of classic country music when you got your first ticket to finally go to the Ryman Theater to watch a performance of Hank Williams on stage at the “Grand Ole Opry” or listen to a live broadcast of the “Louisiana Hayride” on KWKH Shreveport, La as you waited to hear the introduction of a young up-and-coming female country star by the name of Patsy Cline!
There you would begin a magical journey and experience some of the most famous country songs ever to be written… like Honky Tonkin, Love Sick Blues, Your Cheatin’ Heart, Crazy, Sweet Dreams, Walkin’ After Midnight, Stop, Look and Listen, Jambalaya and so many more great memorable songs from the past.
Throughout this 90-minute production show, you’ll also gain some educational insight through multimedia projection and historical commentary presented from the stage on how some of Hank and Patsy’s most famous songs came to be written and recorded through the years.
AND as incredible as Cowboy Jack Johnson and Bethany Owen’s portrayals are of Hank and Patsy’s look and sound, add in a LIVE band, and you have the final touch to give the show its authentic musical sound recreation from the past.
“The Cowboy Jack Band” is a hand-picked group of players, specifically put together for this performance of Honky-Tonkin’, as they specialize in traditional country western music and instruments.
The band is comprised of three incredibly talented musicians who switch-off and play multiple instruments throughout the performance to recreate that acoustical "Drifting Cowboy" sound that was the Hank and Patsy signature sound. The band is made up of Upright Bass, Honky-tonk Lead Guitar, Steel Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Harmonica and Fiddle these instruments defined the sound of the classic country music during the heyday of the Opry.
In addition, both Cowboy Jack Johnson and Bethany Owen’s costuming are original recreations of some of the most famous outfits worn by both Hank and Patsy from the trademark Red / White fringe ensemble and white boots, to the musical appliqué notes on that famous white suit and Stetson hat.
With over 50 years between their two careers, Cowboy Jack Johnson as Hank Williams and Bethany Owen as Patsy Cline, have been performing their style of original and classic country music tributes to audiences around the world.
Add if that's not enough, keeping to tradition of the Opry, to kick off the show with some country fun is the original queen of country comedy - MINNIE PEARL.
