“When it comes to the simple idea of a classical string quartet performing folk tunes, the Danish musicians have exceeded all expectations.” —Tom Huizenga, Producer, NPR Music
Musical America’s 2020 Ensemble of the Year, the Danish String Quartet is known for delving into the works of great classical composers such as Beethoven and Mozart, but they are equally passionate about Scandinavian folk tunes. Comprised of three Danes and one Norwegian cellist, the relatively bearded group will bring us into the world of Nordic folk music set against the backdrop of a social Scandinavian scene. Danish String Quartet brought folk tunes to the concert stage through their highly successful 2014 album Wood Works as well as their critically-acclaimed folk project Last Leaf, which was ranked among the best recordings of 2017 by the New York Times, NPR, WQXR, Boston Globe, Spotify, and Billboard.
