This October evening the Talea Ensemble performs the U.S. premieres of the three 2020 Azrieli Music Prize-winning works by Keiko Devaux (2020 Azrieli Commission for Canadian Music Laureate), Yitzhak Yedid (2020 Azrieli Prize for Jewish Music Laureate), and Yotam Haber (2020 Azrieli Commission for Jewish Music Laureate). The program of U.S. premieres opens with David Adamcyk’s Double Concerto, featuring trumpet and trombone duo, plus electronics, and Pierre Mercure’s Dissidence (arr. Jonathan Monro for soprano and chamber orchestra) featuring soprano Sharon Azrieli. Devaux’s Arras, meaning an elaborate tapestry Haber’s Estro poetico-armonico III, featuring mezzo-soprano Eliza Bagg and Yedid’s Kadosh Kadosh and Cursed, an homage to the composer’s hometown of Jerusalem, finish the program.

This concert is generously supported by the Azrieli Music Prizes (AMP), a program of the Azrieli Foundation. This performance is also made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
