 John ‘Flypoet’ Hensley started his “not your neighborhood open mic” events more than a decade ago and has taken his superbly produced spoken word presentations to great heights.
Moving to the more spacious Ford for the first time last year, he hit the bull’s eye with a sell-out crowd and a knockout show featuring internationally known spoken word artists, live music and interpretive performance art. His belief that “world class spoken word is among the most inspirational, provocative and entertaining art forms” combined with his rolodex of all-star artists promises yet another unforgettable Flypoet night. This year's artists include Sekou Andrews, Tasha Jones, Marc Bamuthi Joseph, Malcolm-Jamal Warner and Norton Wisdom.
