The Fabulous Palm Springs Follies

The Fabulous Palm Springs Follies features the music and dance of the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s with a cast old enough to have lived it. Celebrated guest stars and international vaudeville acts join the Follies’ world-renowned line of Long-Legged Lovelies and Follies Gentlemen, who range in age from 55 to 81!

This season, The Fabulous Palm Springs Follies celebrates its extraordinary 20th anniversary with a show entitled Follies Forever!, playing October 27, 2010 through May 15, 2011.

This all-new edition commemorates the Follies’ two decades with over four decades of America’s favorite music and dance. In preparation for the show’s gala grand opening, the Follies Box Office opens Monday, September 20.

From Doo-Wop to Disco, the stage of The Historic Plaza Theatre this season truly will be The Land of A Thousand Dances.
As always, lavish production numbers, a holiday spectacular (through December 31), and a star-spangled finale are all performed by a cast old enough to remember the way it really was!

Joining the Follies Man and his Legendary Line of Long-Legged Lovelies and Follies Gentlemen are three world-renown guest stars and a remarkable variety act, all making their Follies debut:

The Crystals (October 27 – December 31, 2010) Singing their smash hits, including “Uptown,” “He’s A Rebel,” “Then He Kissed Me,” and “Da Doo Ron Ron.”

Lesley Gore (January 5 – March 5, 2011) Remember “You Don’t Own Me,” “Judy’s Turn to Cry,” “Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows,” and, of course, “It’s My Party.”

The Four Preps (March 8 – May 15, 2011) Stroll down memory lane with “Big Man,” “Lazy Summer Night,” “Down By the Station,” and their chart-topping “26 Miles (Santa Catalina).”

Rejean St. Jules (All Season) You won’t want to miss juggler extraordinaire Rejean St. Jules, who’ll be appearing all season. He well may be the best juggler in show business today.

The Follies is housed in downtown Palm Springs’ historic Plaza Theatre, a charming, neon-encrusted old movie house and is an attraction unto itself.

Read what media are saying the world over:

The Associated Press: "The Palm Springs Follies (is) ... part shtick, part extravaganza and part minor miracle."

The New York Times: "The show is vital, vibrant, even sexy. (The audience is) ready to laugh, to reminisce, to be inspired."

Toronto Globe and Mail: "The glamorous Follies "girls" parade on stage in Las Vegas-style costumes and very high heels, showing off impossibly long legs to superb effect."

The London Times: "Follies is a variety of song, burlesque, lots of legs and sequined costumes. A slick, professional extravaganza."

The Washington Post: "The regular standing ovations suggest that this is the right stuff in the right place at the right time."

The Today Show: "Dazzling."

People Magazine: "A genuine blast from the past."

OUR REVIEW

We saw the show last Season and here is some of what we had to say about it:

“The Follies has been a Palm Springs institution for 20 years. Riff Markowitz, Founder, Director and Master of Ceremonies keeps the show fresh and up to date. This is a Broadway quality production that brings you classic burlesque, vaudeville, showgirls, big production numbers, plenty of tapping and lots of fun.  Riff and his comedic interaction with the audience and performers is big part of the show.

This show is a definite crowd pleaser for all. The very talented performers range in age from 56 to 86. They sing and dance like they were just starting out trying to make their mark in the industry. The spectacular costumes are show in themselves. Choreography and tap routines are masterfully executed. Music, lighting, set and graphic design also deserve special mention for a job well done.

Many say that this show is the most entertainment fun that you can have in Palm Springs; I don’t think that I will challenge that.  This was the 2nd time that I have seen the show. The last time was about 10 years ago. I won’t wait that long to see it again. Book early, the show often sells out” - performing arts LIVE
