The Dream on Royal Street

The Dream on Royal StreetMusical re-sets "A Midsummer Night's Dream" in contemporary New Orleans.

The Dream on Royal Street is a madcap interpretation of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, set in the present in the Royal Street Hotel in New Orleans on Mardi Gras night. Egeus, who owns the hotel, wants his daughter Hermia to marry Demetrius, the assistant manager. Hermia loves Lysander, a lowly desk clerk, and the switchboard girl Helena loves Demetrius. When Oberon and Titania, the fabulous Las Vegas pop stars appearing in the hotel's nightclub, have a failing out, the four lovers become involved in Oberon's scheme for revenge.
The show is performed by AKT Advanced Repertory, a resident company at Sierra Madre Playhouse. The cast will include professionals working with emerging young stage artists. Performers include Christopher Showerman, Rich Cassone, Thomas Colby, Patrick Geringer, Rachel McLaughlan  and Lucy Ferrante, all veteran cast members of previous Sierra Madre Playhouse productions. The cast also includes Leslie Thompson, Fionn James, Anna Cohen, Daniel Betts, Julian Moser, Kevin Ying, Tom Sebenius, Julianna Guzman, Aidan O’Connor, Momo S. Kiyomi.
Stage manager: Morgan Aiken.
Music is by Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, A Bronx Tale), winner of eight Oscars ®, eleven Grammys ® and seven Golden Globes ®.
Book is by June Walker Rogers and lyrics are by David Rogers. The Rogers’ previous collaborations include The Truth About Cinderella and Twelve Dancing Princesses. The Rogers are incidentally the grandparents of Lucy Ferrante, the current production’s Hermia.
