Raúl Esparza and Brooke Shields in
“Leap of Faith”
A World Premiere Musical
Based on the film “Leap of Faith”

Music by Alan Menken
Book by Janus Cercone with Glenn Slater
Lyrics by Glenn Slater
Directed and Choreographed by Rob Ashford

When his traveling ministry breaks down in a small Kansas town, part-time reverend and full-time con artist Jonas Nightengale (Raúl Esparza) quickly pitches a tent and invites the locals to a revival. The sheriff is determined to stop Jonas from separating the townspeople from their money, but Jonas’ real challenge arises when he meets Marva (Brooke Shields), a pretty waitress with a young son.  Her love forces the ultimate cynic to take a real leap of faith.

OUR REVIEW ON LEAP OF FAITH

"One of the most entertaining musicals of the year!   The treatment of the story is most satisfying and lots of fun. The musical score by mutli-Academy Award winning song writer Alan Menken just might earn him another award. The clever sets and expressive lighting help bring you into the story so much so that at times you think you are there in Sweetwater with them.  The high energy dance sequences are terrific. Raul Esparza successfully brings his enormous talent to an iconic performance as Jonas. Brooke Shields demonstrates great showmanship and comfort in her role as Marva. There are many show stopping musical numbers. One of them features young Boyd played by Nicholas Barasch. You'll want to follow his career. A star has just been revealed! Also Kecia Lewis Evans as Ida, the choir director, stopped the show for me every time she sang.  I wish that we could have heard more from her.

LEAP OF FAITH will put a smile on your face, a tear in your eye, have you tapping your feet and make you glad that you went to see it. This Broadway worthy production needs a few tweaks but is definitely worth your consideration. We say GO and you won't be disappointed." - Performing Arts LIVE
