The New Film Screening Series, starring the city of Los Angeles, also includes “Mur Murs” by Legendary Director Agnès Varda and “This is the Life” by Acclaimed Director Ava DuVernay
Metro Art kicks off “LA Documentaries at Union Station,” a celebration of the city of Angels through true stories on film, with “Roller Dreams” October 13 in the Historic Ticketing Hall.
Directed by Kate Hickey, “Roller Dreams” uses archival footage, photographs and interviews with skaters to reveal the untold history of roller dancing in 1980s Venice Beach. The film, which premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival this summer, features an eclectic group of skaters who drew massive crowds, and influenced the culture of Los Angeles. Hickey, will introduce the film and the screening will be followed by a Q and A with four of the dancers: Mad, Jimmy Rich, Tyrrell Ferguson and Larry Pitts.
Doors will open at 7:15 p.m., and the screening will begin at 8:00 p.m.
Admission is free, and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
