Columbinus, a play sparked by the April 1999 massacre at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, is a meeting of fact and fiction that illuminates the realities of adolescent culture by exploring the events surrounding the shootings. The play draws on discussions by parents, survivors and community leaders in Littleton as well as police evidence.
Act 1 of this compelling drama looks at archetypes of adolescence inhabiting the halls of high schools across the country. This exploration prepares us for questions in Act 2 related to the massacre at Columbine High School near Littleton, Colorado, in 1999. The events and the aftermath as depicted in Act 3 are not easy to watch, but in a country that averages more than one school shooting a week, they must be reckoned with.
We invite you to join us for a show that has been called a theatrical discussion and includes talk-back from audience members.
