METRO ART PRESENTS "BLADE RUNNER" TO KICK OFF “SCI-FI AT UNION STATION” FILM SERIES
Three-Part Series Starts with Classic “Blade Runner” on April 5 and Includes Cult Favorite “Them!” and Contemporary Classic “Her”
This spring Metro Art will present an extraordinary celebration of science fiction cinema with a series of three celebrated sci-fi films at Los Angeles’ historic Union Station. The carefully curated series highlights the role of Los Angeles as a backdrop for many fundamental works within the genre.
The iconic 1982 film “Blade Runner,” screening Wednesday, April 5, features scenes shot in the station’s Historic Ticketing Hall. Directed by Ridley Scott and starring Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer and Sean Young, this quintessential neo-noir science fiction classic portrays a dystopian Los Angeles in which “Blade Runners” are assigned to assassinate illegal androids known as replicants. Doors will open at 7 p.m., and the screening will begin at 7:30 p.m. with an introduction by special guest, former Los Angeles Times entertainment reporter Susan King, who specializes in “Classic Hollywood.”
