Music and Lyrics by Christopher Curtis Book by Christopher Curtis and Thomas Meehan Directed by Warren Carlyle and Michael Unger A World Premiere Musical He came to America an unknown. He left amidst scandals and controversy. In between, Charlie Chaplin became one of the best-loved and most famous entertainers in the world. From the gritty streets and smoky music halls of London to movie screens across the world, Limelight goes behind the camera to show how a comic genius found soaring success and later fell from grace. Limelight provides a moving and delightful close-up on the man who changed motion pictures forever. ------------------------------ Our REVIEW OF LIMELIGHT: The Story of Charlie Chaplin “A star is born! Rob McClure is sensational as Charlie Chaplin. His performance will bring a chill to those who have a memory of the ‘Tramp’ back in the day. You can sense the audience’s great affection for Charlie from the opening black and white film clip to the dynamic closing number. The rest of the cast is terrific as well with many noteworthy performances. Another standout for me is Jenn Colella as Hedda Hopper. What voice! The story adeptly presents us the highlights (ups and downs) of the life of Charlie Chaplin, capturing his spirit along the way. The music and lyrics written by Christopher Curtis are certainly of Broadway quality which is where ‘Limelight’ is hopefully headed. The impressive sets, costumes, lighting and projections contribute significantly to the overall entertainment equation of the evening. This world premiere musical production of ‘Limelight: The Story of Charlie Chaplin’ is a resounding theatrical delight!” – Performing Arts LIVE
