 First United Methodist Church will present “Eternal Creation: Three Beethoven Piano Sonatas” performed by pianist Junko Ueno Garrett on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. The free concert is part of the church’s monthly Third@First series, which is coordinated by Junko Ueno Garrett.
The piano was Beethoven’s instrument and his 32 piano sonatas are among his greatest contributions to the world’s music. Written during an era when the instrument itself was evolving, Beethoven’s music explored the new limits of the piano’s expression and power. This program’s three sonatas showcase the variety to be found in this music:
Sonata in E-flat Major, Op. 31 No. 3 “The Hunt”
Sonata in E Major, Op. 109
Sonata in C Major, Op. 53 “Waldstein”
