The Claremont Symphony opens its 60th season with three classic works by Ludwig van Beethoven. They are the "Leonore" Overture No. 2, Piano Concerto No. 2 in B-flat, Op. 19 and Symphony No. 2 in D, Op. 36.
The piano soloist for this concert is Joel Clifft. As an active collaborative pianist, Dr. Clifft has performed in concert with world-class musicians, including violinist Midori and erhu player Ma Xiao Hui. He has also been engaged for many master classes, including those given by the Jascha Heifetz Society, Alice and Eleanor Schoenfeld, Martin Katz, and Midori. He is the Director of Keyboard Studies at Azusa Pacific University, where he teaches music theory, accompanying, and ear training courses. He is also an adjunct faculty member at USC, where he teaches collaborative piano to undergraduate piano majors.
