In the first of a seven-part Dance + Design series, American Contemporary Ballet re-creates the dances and dance crazes that fascinated generations and informed history.
ACB reveals dance in the time of Lucrezia Borgia, Lorenzo de Medici, and Leonello d’Este, when it was considered a reflection of the soul. Lorenzo “The Magnificent” Medici (who ruled Florence, patronized Michelangelo and DaVinci, and barely escaped assassination at knifepoint) was also a choreographer and dancer. The company performs his work live, in relatively safer circumstances.
