Marc-Antoine Charpentier (1643 - 1704) was an exceptionally prolific and versatile French composer of the Baroque era. Charpentier produced compositions of the highest quality in a number of genres, but his mastery in writing sacred vocal music, above all, was recognized and hailed by his contemporaries and still cherished today.
Founded in 1949, the St. Francis de Sales Choir is one of the leading church choral groups in Southern California. Throughout the years, choir membership has included singers from the parish as well as vocalists from the Los Angeles Opera, Wagner Ensemble, Los Angeles Master Chorale, and the Roger Wagner Chorale. The choir is accompanied by noted organist Stephen Park, who has been with St. Francis de Sales since 1979.
