 The Hunger Artists Theatre Company is proud to present its 6th show for the 2012 season, ‘ART’ written by Yasmina Reza, translation by Christopher Hampton, This show is directed by Katie Chidester.
Serge has bought a modern painting for a huge sum of money. Marc hates it and can't believe any friend of his could possibly want such a piece of work. Yvan attempts, unsuccessfully, to placate both sides. Awarded a Tony for Best Play in1998, ‘ART’ is a play about three friends and a piece of art that consists of nothing but a white canvas. While its three characters, who argue viciously over their responses to the painting, are by no means abstract, they are of a reassuringly generic ilk that makes it clear why this comedy crosses cultural barriers with such ease.
