Glendale Youth Orchestra - 30th Anniversary Season Opener

Glendale Youth Orchestra - 30th Anniversary Season OpenerThe Glendale Youth Orchestra (GYO) is  celebrating its 30th Anniversary Season. Our mission is based on the belief that our young people have a better chance of succeeding in their world if they appreciate and participate in its rich artistic and cultural traditions.

The program will feature the Beethoven Coriolan Overture Schubert Symphony No. 8 ("Unfinished")
Ravel Tzigane, for solo violin and orchestra,
Rachel Mugemancuro, violin (Pasadena Havard-Westlake High School)
Mozart Symphony No. 35 ("Haffner").

ABOUT THE CONDUCTOR
Brad Keimach is a graduate of New York's prestigious Juilliard School. Mr. Keimach studied conducting with the legendary Leonard Bernstein and holds an MFA from the Purchase Conservatory of the State University of New York.

ABOUT THE SOLOIST
Rachel Mugemancuro is a 9th grade student at Harvard-Westlake.  She started playing the violin ten years ago and currently studies with Mihaela Ganea King.  She has performed in multiple venues across the United States and was featured with Lang Lang on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno in October of 2012.  She has been a member of the Glendale Youth Orchestra for six years.

The GYO is funded in part by a grant from the LA County Arts Commission.

The Concert is supported in part by a grant from the Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts
