 The Young Artist Jazz Series, produced by Barbara Brighton, began in spring of 1996 with the goal of providing a forum for local young jazz artists to showcase their talents in front of a live audience, while giving the community the opportunity to support and enjoy these musicians. The performers are selected mostly from recommendations made by teachers or musicians in mentoring positions.
The Fernando Pullum Community Arts Center band’s members have played at the Playboy Jazz festival, and performed in Cuba, Spain, and Brazil. Their most recent performance was the tribute to Michael Jackson with Cirque du Soleil, Justin Beaver, and others. STTAF( Success Through The Arts Foundation) has provided arts instruction to thousands of students from South Los Angeles, many of whom have been accepted to major colleges across the United States.
